Craig and I have worked in land management for the past few decades of our lives. From the park service, forest service, BLM, The Nature Conservancy and as private contractors, we have dedicated out lives as public servants, working in the natural world around us. We believe that it is important to not only visit your public lands but to have an understanding and appreciation of what is part of them.
We will post different topics on this page so that we can provide educational information about the Red River Gorge for you. From reptiles to megafauna, flowers to fungus we will try to find interesting educational information so that when you explore the area, you can view it from a different perspective.
Of course, we highly recommend that you visit the Gladie center in the Daniel Boone National forest to pick up maps and literature. You can also chat with a ranger and take part in one of their scheduled events. You will not be disappointed in their knowledge and expertise. There is also an incredible self-guided installation at the Gladie center on the history and landscape of the area. You can find contact information on the Gladie center on our Area Attractions page. Click here to be redirected to that page.
If you stay in one of our cabins, please feel free to ask us about the natural features in the area. We would love to make your visit memorable so that you can fall in love with the area, like we did.
